WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR GETTING DENTAL CROWNS?

The process for getting dental crowns usually takes place over two visits to the dentist. During the first visit, the tooth is prepared for the crown and an impression is made. This impression is then used to create a model of the tooth, which is used to create the custom-crafted dental crown. The second visit is used to place the dental crown on the tooth. To place the crown, the tooth is first numbed with local anesthesia. The existing tooth is then trimmed down to make room for the crown. The crown is then placed on the tooth and held in place with dental cement. Once the dental cement has set, the dentist will check to make sure that the fit of the crown is correct and that there are no gaps between the crown and the tooth.

ARE DENTAL CROWNS PAINFUL?

Dental crowns are not usually painful. However, the process of preparing the tooth for the crown can be uncomfortable for some patients. To prepare the tooth, the dentist will numb the area with local anesthesia. Once the area is numb, the existing tooth will be trimmed down to make room for the crown. This part of the procedure can cause some discomfort. However, the local anesthesia will help to minimize any pain.

He is an excellent oral surgeon who does implant & cosmetic dentistry. I had a gold inlay that came off & he did an excellent job-so much better than the last dentist I had. The other dentist wanted to give me a new crown which Dr Weiss said I did not need. I drive over 45 minutes to see him since I trust him. Catarina performed a thorough cleaning without any pain.
